Body Acid Alkaline Balance

Vibrant Health and Energy begins with the Body's PH Balance

To maintain health, the diet should consist of at least 60% alkaline forming foods and at most 40% acid forming foods.

To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods.

When the body's pH gets out of balance (too acidic), it causes low energy, excess weight, poor digestion, fatigue, aches and pains, and more serious disorders such as cardiovascular and heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, kidney stones, urinary incontinence, arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes and obesity. An imbalanced pH can also be at the root of many common symptoms such as constipation, heartburn, headaches, frequent colds, digestive problems, acne, fatigue, and sleeplessness. Having a balanced body pH is crucial for disease prevention and to any healing or detoxification program. The majority of today's society are acidic because of diet, stress, pollution, lifestyle, over-exercising and the accumulation of chemical and heavy metal toxins.

Restoring  the body's pH balance begins with proper diet and nutrition. This includes eating alkalizing foods (listed below), drinking plenty of pure water and proper supplementation.

Drink plenty of pure water for pH Balance

Water is most important in establishing and maintaining proper pH. Your body is 70% water and the body loses around 2.5 litres of water every day, so it is extremely important to constantly replenish your supply of it.

In order to hydrate your body, an adequate supply of pure water is essential. Water assists in removing toxins and neutralizing acids from the body. Water is a conductor of electrochemical activity from cell to cell, so you should be drinking 3-4 litres of it every day. You will develop more of a thirst for water as your body hydrates properly. Food cravings are often the body's cry for water. Try it – you'll see!!!

Although acidic, kombucha is an alkaline forming food. Kombucha Tea pH should be 3.0 or below. Acid or alkaline forming foods, means the acid or alkaline forming ability of foods to affect the body. The pH condition foods cause in the body after being digested.

For example, lemons are very acidic, however the end-products they produce after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline so lemons are alkaline-forming in the body. Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion but it leaves acidic residue in the body so, like nearly all animal products, meat is classified as acid-forming.

Kombucha Tea &  Molasses to Balance the body's pH

This is a great formula for balancing the pH ratio in the body and supplies iron and potassium

Mix One cup of kombucha tea with one cup of Organic Black Strap Molasses in a blender. Store in a glass jar. No need to refrigerate.

Adult Dosage: 2 to 4 tablespoons a day.

Testing your body's alkalinity or acidity

You can test your pH levels to determine your body's pH. By using pH test strips or Litmus Paper, the best time to test your pH is about one hour before a meal and two hours after a meal.

Saliva pH Test:  Place some saliva on a piece of Litmus Paper.  The optimal pH for saliva is 6.4 to 6.8. After eating, the saliva pH should rise to 7.5 or more. If your saliva stays between 6.5 and 7.5 your body is functioning within a healthy range.

Urine pH Test:   The pH of the urine indicates how the body is working to maintain the proper pH of the blood.  Urine can provide a fairly accurate picture of body chemistry, because the kidneys filter out the buffer salts of pH regulation and provide values based on what the body is eliminating. Urine pH can vary from around 4.5 to 9.0 in extremes, but the ideal range is 6.0 to 7.0. If your urinary pH fluctuates between 6.0 to 6.5 first thing in the morning and between 6.5 and 7.0 in the evening before dinner, your body is functioning within a healthy range.
